Board of Directors
Allison Sorensen
Allison grew up discussing school choice at the dinner table and the passion has never left her. She has worked for multiple non-profits across the state doing fundraising and development. She also worked at a private school helping dropout students as well as the Vice Principal at a first year charter school. Allison is known for ability to grow things from the bottom up. Most recently she has been raising her four boys, the oldest of which experiences autism.
Katherine Bathgate
Katherine Kellett Bathgate is the CEO and Co-Founder of SchoolForward, a communications and advocacy firm focused on education reform. Ms. Bathgate has spent over a dozen years working at the intersection of public policy and communications. She previously led the communications and marketing team at the National Alliance for Public Charter Schools and from 2011-2013, she was the Deputy Press Secretary for the U.S. House Committee on Education and the Workforce. Ms. Bathgate has a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and Public Affairs from Claremont McKenna College. She resides in Park City with her husband and three children.
Derek Brown
As a constitutional attorney, member of the Utah House of Representatives, senior legal advisor to three United States senators in Washington and in Utah, and Vice President of Government Relations for a billion dollar corporation, Derek’s breadth of experience in law and government relations arena is truly unique. Derek, and his wife, Emilie de Azevedo, have four remarkable (and somewhat exhausting) children and loves spending his free time biking and being in Utah’s great outdoors.
